Before & After: Living Room

This weekend was awesome.

I visited my friend Whitney in Louisville and we tore up that town, y'all!  Here we are with Whitney's equally awesome friend Chelsea.

Louisville is such an awesome place and such a different scene than Cincinnati.  Not only is it beautiful, but it has this hippy vibe to the place that makes it feel so approachable.  Love it.  Can't wait to go back.

Now back to reality...It's Monday!  Last week I showed you the chevron gallery wall entry.

My client had a small living room to the right of the entry that was to be the formal living room.

Before:

It was hard to work with because it has two major openings to other rooms.  Also they also wanted to be able to watch the TV comfortably.

Considering the sectional was NOT going to work for this room, we had to purchase all new furniture which can really put a damper on your decorating budget.  We kept what we could...the wall color, and the rug and went with blues, greys, and browns.

After:

The fireplace was inoperable so we painted the inside of it aqua and had a mirror cut for the inside.  Lit candles are beautiful inside it at night.

Most design decisions were directed by budget such as the Crate & Barrel sofa, Overstock.com chair, and the World Market blue chair.  But we splurged on some custom drapery which I think totally makes the room.

We placed the sofa facing the fireplace.  Even though it's sometimes a bummer to see the back of a sofa when entering a room, I think it works and the space demanded it.

Over the gray console we are putting a large, over sized fun photo of Kristy's boys in black and white.  I think a gold frame will be a sophisticated contrast to the goofy photo we are planning.

I think the space would just glow with a beautiful chandelier but the homeowners wanted to keep the ceiling fan...which I understand but I'm just crazy for a beautiful light!

Are any of y'all having any fun travels this summer?  I have a few more trips planned and I can't wait!
