Painting sucks.
I know it sucks because I saw how much Greg sweat while doing it.
I helped a little.
But honestly, he was painting circles around me.
And let me tell you, he did an awesome job.
Doesn't it look a million times better than the ugly mustard color? It's crazy what a little paint can do.
The color I selected for the room is Benjamin Moore's Abalone. I have used this color in many spaces....it's the perfect light gray. More blue than brown, but not too steely. Light, but not too light. All around the perfect, fresh nuetral.
Remember how we decided to turn the closet into a little play area? Well we wanted that to be a bit more bright and fun. Instead of using the gray, in the closet we chose Benjamin Moore's Serenity. It's pretty much a tiffany blue. Originally, I had selected Serenity for the entire room but decided it would look too baby with all the pink.
Last week I shared with you our plans to incorporate some Ikea shelving.
Yeah, see all that? Guess who went to Ikea (twice) while Greg painted away? That's right!
How frustrating are their directions? I mean, really Ikea. How hard would it be to add captions to these pictures so we know what in the world you are talking about.
Here I am using a mallet to put some Expedit together in the middle of the night whilst drinking wine. Always a good idea, folks.
I'm sure by now you are wondering where this fabulous pink chevron rug came from.
Let's check out the design board from week one again:
Since we are trying to not spend a fortune on this room (we are renting), my design is dictated a lot by price. I found this awesome discounted 8 x 10 pink chevron rug, that I knew the girls would love, at the Pottery Barn Kids Outlet. I decided to purchase it and design the room around it, adding in aqua, teal, and gold, which you will see more of very soon.
Next week you'll see me jazz up some Ikea and teach Greg some lessons in curtain rod height. (I tell you, if they would only listen the first time!)
Check out how the other bloggers are doing here.
If you're new to the One Room Challenge, grab some wine and check out weeks one, and two.
