Have you always wanted to know what High Point Market was really all about?
Like, what it would be like if you aren't a design professional but you stowed away in a designer's suitcase and snuck in?
Perfect! Jeannette is going to tell you all about it!
(If you'd rather read the serious post that talks about all of the trends, you can read that here.)
Jeannette looking fabulous and me looking...like I have a bald spot?! |
Jeannette is a good friend of mine. We've been friends since I tracked her down last year and convinced her to host a school fundraiser at her beautiful home.
Jeannette is a mother of two, a Pilates instructor by way of Pharmacy school, is addicted to buying boots, loves red wine, and has a keg of Heineken in her bar at her house at ALL times. Oh, and she is one of the sweetest and funniest people you will ever meet (and she's not even trying!) What's not to love?
So naturally I invited her to come to High Point Market with me on account that it would have been uber boring and tedious to go on my own. I mean, who wants to drink all of those free drinks by themselves? Who wants to look at beautiful rugs and chandeliers alone? And you simply must have someone to snicker at ugly stuff with.
Jeannette was into the whole thing because she has a rather large house from the early 1900's that she is
Here is my interview with Jeannette:
What was your overall impression of High Point Furniture Market?
It was amazing. It was like shopping without worrying about impulse buys...because you couldn't really buy anything on the spot (I learned that the hard way! Ha!) It was like looking at catalogs but in person. The whole thing was much larger than I though it would be.
What was the worst part?
All the walking. And the fact that after seeing everything, I need to redecorate my entire house all over again! And that I missed out on the Lee Industries Kilim rug ottomans. I NEED one!

Best part?
Pretending to be an Interior Designer and seeing all the different fabrics, rugs, furniture. But mostly the rugs. I LOVE rugs!

What was the most fun part about Hight Point Market?
It was like one big open bar! Mimosas in the morning, margaritas at noon, and wine, beer, and the hard stuff all the time. Laney had an app on her phone that showed where all the free food and drinks were so we shamelessly showed up at all of those showrooms!

Best Showroom:
Curation Limited because they had the best bar and bartender with a full spread of food! Ha ha! Also, Loloi because I loved their the rugs. I was rug obsessed!

Was Highpoint what you expected?
No because it had so much more than just furniture....had so many types of things and accessories. It was bigger than I expected. It just had everything. And the whole thing was just HUGE.

Funniest moment at Market:
At four hands at the end of the day when we were so tired and had to much to drink, Laney and I just sat down on the sofas and analyzed our childhood. Also, it was really funny when Laney stalked the designer from New York.
Would you go again?
Absolutely!
Jeannette, I wouldn't really call that stalking (ok, maybe it was)! Haha! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us!
