Sad Little Entry

Here is my entry. Don't you just love it??!

OK just kidding.

A little background here:  Greg still owns his house in northern Kentucky so the house we live in up here in Cincinnati, we rent.  We signed a year lease last July and while packing up, loading the truck, and then unpacking we vowed to never move again (as everyone does during a move).  But who knows?

Chances are slim we will buy this house as the layout is all wrong for our family and the price is not right to consider remodeling.  So while we may rent another year until Greg's house sells, this is not our long term residence.

So while not wanting to waste money I am stuck looking at quite possibly the fugliest light fixture I have ever seen.  Every day I see it I think, man I should totally change that!!  But then I think, well we may only be here a few more months and then it sits on the back burner.

But today I got to daydreaming about the entry again...what would I do if I lived here for good?

Definitely some Quadrille wallpaper. I LOVE dramatic entries!  So, I love a bold wallpaper for the entry.

Maybe this:

Or this:

Or even this:

I know, so cute, right?  I would put it in the entry, take it up the stairs of course, and down the upstairs hall (which is a pretty small hallway).  With all of the doors in the entry I don't think it would be too overwhelming.

As for lighting I'm thinking of something fabulously unique like this:

I love the drama and contrast of the bright colors.

OR maybe a more classic looking light.  I'm thinking something gold (of course) and round like this:

I just love this light, I have even used it in a clients house (which therefore puts it off limits for me to use again, but this is fantasy land, folks).

As for an entry rug, I would love a vintage Turkish rug like this:

Colors of the rug would have to complement the wallpaper somewhat of course.

All together, the result would be a bright, dramatic, fun entry that would be hard to forget!

What would you do with this entry?  What does your entry look like?
